Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services
Specialist service for children who are displaying symptoms of psychiatric illness or severe emotional or behavioural disturbance. All children need to be referred by a specialist paediatrician. School age children need to be referred by a specialist paediatrician or GP. New referrals will be prioritised by need. Urgent referrals will be seen within 5 days. Routine referrals may have a waiting period of up to 6 - 8 weeks. Work closely with school counsellors to maintain continuity of care for the child. 24hr telephone (1300 552 289) available to obtain information and advice. This is not an emergency service.
