Residential Respite Booking Service - (ACAT)
Residential Respite Booking Service is a free service for nursing home and hostel residential respite. Residential respite is short term accommodation for people requiring temporary alternate care arrangements. It is designed to help carers continue in their caring role by providing a 'break' from caring. The service offers - choice of appropriate facilities, information on respite bed availability and confirmation of bookings, organising aspects of respite care eg medication requirements and information on pension entitlements, liasion with the Department of Veterans Affairs for funded respite (Gold Card recipients). In order to be eligible for respite in an aged care facility the client needs a current Aged Care Application and Approval form also known as a ACCR form. Eligibility for residential respite is 63 days each financial year. The Carer Allowance is not affected unless more than 63 days respite each financial year is taken
