The Aged-care Rights Services (TARS)
The Aged-care Rights Service (TARS) is an advocacy service for older residents of nursing homes, hostels and retirement villages and people receiving Community Aged Care Packages (CACPs). TARS runs education programs to educate about their rights and to explain the aged-care system, gives information and legal advice so people can exercise their rights or deal more effectively with the aged care system, refers people to other organisations, advocate and negotiate on behalf of people and help them to resolve issues or disputes, represent people and advocate on their behalf at tribunals and hearings, assist people to make formal complaints through the Commonwealth Complaints Resolution scheme. In addition to this work TARS also represents the rights and best interests of consumers in various government and industry forums by developing policy recommendations to advocate for improvements to the aged care system.Older Persons Legal Service (OPLS)
